These are maps of annual accumulated freezing potential (freezing degree days, FDD) for the Upper Gunnison domain, derived from daily minimum temperature maps interpolated from weather station and microclimate sensor data. The original daily maps are also available. Freezing degree-days were accumulated from day-of-year 60 to day-of-year 305 (March 1st to November 1st in a non-leap year). To compute freezing degree days, temperatures below -5 degrees Celcius (considered harmful to most plants) were summed across all days and multiplied by negative 1. These maps represent annual values computed from 2002 to 2021. 20-year averages (2002 - 2021) are also available.
