This is a map of accumulated growing potential (growing degree days, GDD) for the Upper Gunnison domain, derived from daily maximum temperature maps interpolated from weather station and microclimate sensor data. The original daily maps are also available. Temperature estimates represent conditions approximately 2m above the ground surface. Growing degree-days were accumulated from day-of-year 60 to day-of-year 305 (March 1st to November 1st in a non-leap year). To compute GDD, daily maximum temperatures above 5 degrees Celcius (minimal growth conditions for most plants) were summed across all focal days. This map represents the mean of annual values computed from 2002 to 2021.
