This map represents the vertical distance (in meters) above stream channels. The streamline map was derived in GRASS GIS using a mult flow-direction algorithm that allows channel braiding, and the elevation map was a flow-corrected digitical elevation model. A drainage area threshold of 8000 square meters was used to delineate channels. The vertical distance map was derived using the SAGA GIS Module "Vertical Distance To Streams", which interpolates between stream elevations using smoothing splines and subtracts the interpolated stream elevations from the DEM.
