Future scenarios and companion narratives mapping the strategic decision space for RMBL's 2027–2029 Centennial Campaign. Three sets: central case, upside companion, and downside companion. Each scenario has at least one literary narrative grounded in it.
Planning artifacts — not forecasts or RMBL institutional commitments. Generated using a structured specification and an AI model (Claude Opus); inputs and constraints are human-authored.
Each scenario describes one plausible state of basin science roughly fifteen years from now, given specified conditions. Together they map the strategic decision space the Centennial Campaign will navigate. They are not predictions of what will happen, nor statements of what RMBL plans to do. The framework deliberately makes plurality (multiple scenarios), contingency- honesty (each scenario names what would invalidate it), and what-is-forgone explicit.
The companion stories are short literary fiction grounded in specific scenarios. Characters are fictional roles, not real people. The fictional voice helps readers inhabit possibilities the strategic-planning register cannot reach. They are not documentary.
The choices about what to explore — which contingencies, which strategic options, which time horizons, which sets — were made by RMBL staff and embedded in the Future Scenarios Framework specification. Claude Opus drafts the prose from those structured inputs. Every artifact links to its source .md file on GitHub. Full pipeline: Futures methodology on the About page →
