Calibrating the data logger…
Effect of advancing stream peak flow hydrology on stream biogeochemistry and primary productivity Climate change is causing streams to reach their peak flows earlier due to advancing snowmelt timing and declining snowpack volume. My ongoing research aims to understand how this advancing flow phenology impacts stream nutrient cycling, primary producers, and grazing invertebrates. By studying seasonal patterns of nutrient uptake and algal accrual in streams that vary in timing of peak flow, I can use a space-for-time substitution to investigate how climate-driven advances in peak flow will alter this foundational ecosystem process and stream food webs.
