We plan to enhance the instrumentation suite of the ongoing Surface Atmosphere Integrated Field Laboratory (SAIL) of the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program at RMBL by a 94 GHz scanning cloud radar and a novel video in situ snowfall camera for the period Sep 2022 ? June 2023. Our goal is to study riming (the adherence of water droplets when ice particles fall through a supercooled liquid layer in a cloud) and secondary ice production (SIP) processes that enhance the number of ice particles during snowfall formation in complex terrain.
