Method synopsis

In-situ measurement of temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and barometric pressure at multiple points around each pond during peak photosynthetic activity. Provides standardized water chemistry profiles.

Synthesized from method descriptions across 4 papers using this protocol.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Climate mediates the trade-offs associated with phenotypic plasticity in an amphibian polyphenism (2024), Journal of Animal Ecology. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Pond temperature monitoring
Deployed HOBO temperature loggers annually in deepest sections of each pond from 2004-2019. Collected hourly temperature data for each of the five ponds with permanent hydroperiods ranging 12-14 years of data per pond.
