Method synopsis

Field surveys to document presence/absence of Thlaspi arvense at butterfly sampling sites using standardized threshold of minimum plant abundance during flowering period.

Synthesized from method descriptions across 1 paper using this protocol.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Patterns of genetic variation and local adaptation of a native herbivore to a lethal invasive plant (2024), Molecular Ecology. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. T. arvense presence survey
Presence/absence of T. arvense surveyed at all sampling locations. Sites considered T. arvense present if site contained at least 20 plants at flowering stage. T. arvense recorded as present at 2 sites in 2016 (of 5 sites sampled) and 2019 (of 7 sites sampled).
Quantities: Minimum threshold of 20 T. arvense plants at flowering stage, final sampling included 3 sites where T. arvense present of 11 total sitesDuration: Concurrent with butterfly sampling periodsConditions: Field surveys during flowering stage of T. arvense
   Equipment: field survey methods

Typical Equipment

• field survey methods

Output Measurements
