Method synopsis

Systematic search and compilation of published records of D. geminata blooms with associated soluble reactive phosphorus measurements to characterize global patterns.

Synthesized from method descriptions across 2 papers using this protocol.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Didymosphenia geminata blooms are not exclusively driven by low phosphorus under experimental conditions (2020), Hydrobiologia. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Global literature survey
Searched Web of Science database and Google Scholar for 'Didymosphenia geminata' combined with phosphate-related terms. All records with D. geminata stalk material, location, and SRP concentration were included. Location, elevation, and phosphate concentration were recorded for each record.
