Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — A meta-analysis of 1,119 manipulative experiments on terrestrial carbon-cycling responses to global change (2019), Nature Ecology & Evolutiion. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Calculate wetness indices and climate variables
Calculated wetness index as MAP/(MAT + 10) where MAP is mean annual precipitation and MAT is mean annual temperature. Used site coordinates to extract climate data and calculate environmental variables for each experimental site.
Quantities: Calculated for all experimental sites with available coordinate and climate dataDuration: Not specifiedConditions: Used site-specific climate conditions
Equipment: Climate databases, GIS software for coordinate-based climate extraction

Typical Equipment

• Climate databases
• GIS software

Output Measurements

• wetness index values
• mean annual temperature
• mean annual precipitation
