1. Collect fish mucus samples
   Collected mucus from 10 hatchery-reared Atlantic salmon (mean fork length 16.58 ± 0.3 cm) by gently dabbing fish mouth 10 times with cotton to eliminate excess water, then placing in plastic bag with fresh mucus and gently rubbing each fish for 20 s within the bag, removing fish, and storing bags containing mucus on ice for transport to laboratory.
