Method synopsis

Random collection of mayfly larvae from stream benthos using standardized D-frame nets, followed by preservation and microscopic examination for internal parasites. Used to compare parasite prevalence between metal-polluted and reference streams.

Synthesized from method descriptions across 1 paper using this protocol.

Typical Equipment

• D-frame net with 500μm mesh
• 70% ethanol

Output Measurements

• parasite prevalence
• mayfly abundance
