Staff members from Mesa County Health Department visited various public facilities including governmental agencies (schools, workforce centers) and community groups (churches, social organizations) throughout Mesa County, Colorado to collect survey data both online and in-person

Demographic sampling strategy
Lower-income residents were specifically targeted to have a sample size that reflected the true demographics of Mesa County, Colorado. Survey was made available in both English and Spanish to ensure adequate response rate for all area residents

Constraint assessment using ordinal response scales
Ten specific constraints to leisure were analyzed using response categories of 'Strongly Disagree,' 'Disagree,' 'Neutral,' 'Agree,' and 'Strongly Agree.' For time, cost, transportation, and location constraints, slightly different response variables were used: 'No Influence,' 'Minor Influence,' 'Some Influence,' 'A Lot of Influence,' and 'Very Strong Influence.'
