Method synopsis

Systematic field investigation and mapping of vein systems, structural relationships, and ore distributions in mining districts. Includes documentation of fracture patterns, vein orientations, and spatial relationships of mineralization.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Paragenesis and structure of pitchblende-bearing veins, Central City District, Gilpin County, Colorado (1956), Economic Geology. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Field geological investigation
Conducted geological field investigation of the Central City district to map and study pitchblende-bearing veins and their structural relationships
Quantities: Study area of approximately 12 square miles in Gilpin County, ColoradoDuration: From 1952 to 1954Conditions: Field conditions in the Front Range mineral belt at approximately 30 miles west of Denver
   Equipment: geological mapping tools
