1. Spatiotemporal matching and parallax correction
Matched satellite and ground observations using strict criteria of within 2.5 km spatial distance and ±2.5 minutes temporal window. Applied parallax correction to account for apparent cloud horizontal location shift from satellite viewing geometry, calculating total horizontal shift using cloud top height and viewing zenith angle, then splitting into longitudinal and latitudinal components.
Quantities: 2.5 km spatial tolerance, ±2.5 minutes temporal tolerance, viewing zenith angles up to nadirDuration: Applied for each potential satellite-ground matchupConditions: All weather conditions, day and night overpasses
Equipment: Geometric calculations, Satellite viewing geometry data

Typical Equipment

• Geometric calculations
• Satellite viewing geometry data

Output Measurements

• matched observation pairs
