Method synopsis

Application of the graphical NCE model to real predator-prey systems using published empirical data to parameterize growth and predation curves and generate predictions.

Synthesized from method descriptions across 1 paper using this protocol.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Costs of predator-induced phenotypic plasticity: A graphical model for predicting the contribution of non-consumptive and consumptive effects of predators on prey (2013), Oecologia. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Apply to empirical examples
Applied the graphical model framework to two specific predator-prey systems: Bythotrephes effects on Daphnia in Lake Michigan, and predator effects on Baetis mayflies in Rocky Mountain streams. Used existing empirical data to parameterize the model curves.
Quantities: Two case studies examinedDuration: Not specifiedConditions: Based on published empirical studies
