SUMMARYEight new species of the fungal order Harpellales from the United States are described, including three new monotypic genera (Genistellospora, Trichozygospora, and Simuliomyces). Three species are from black-fly larvae (Genistellospora homothallica, Simuliomyces microsporus, Pennella angustispora), four are from midge larvae (Trichozygospora chironomidarum, Smittium elongatum, Stachylina grandispora, S. chironomidarum), and one occurs in mayfly nymphs (Glotzia ephemeridarum). Five of the species produce zygospores. Several species are common and widespread, and may share their gut habitat with other Trichomycetes.
