Violarite from the Copper King mine, Boulder County, Colo., occurs as a secondary mineral after pentlandite. It is associated with fresh pyrrhotite and with several altered forms of pyrrhotite including secondary pyrite after pyrrhotite. Hence violarite has a much broader stability range in the oxidation environment than was previously suspected.
