New gravity and magnetic maps of the San Juan Mountains of Colorado reveal NW-SE trending lineaments that align with known trends of the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen (SOA). We have implemented a new gravity processing technique that employs digital topography and geologically reasonable densities in order to calculate Bouguer slab-like corrections, resulting in a new Bouguer anomaly-like map. A new compilation of existing aeromagnetic datasets over the study area is a vast improvement over previous compilations and provides a clearer view of geologic trends. The results presented here suggest that the trend of the SOA probably continues through the San Juan Mountains to the Uncompahgre uplift region, where similar trends and rift-age intrusive rocks are known to exist. The results may also imply basement control on younger igneous structures.
