Triangulating from the cairns…
This project exploits a butterfly monitoring data set collected by Michael Soulé and his Earthwatch teams from 1982-1991. He collected data on the number of butterflies of specified species seen every 3 days along the Copper Creek trail from RMBL to the first crossing. We propose a re-survey, to examine changes in phenology, abundance and species diversity in the intervening 30-40 years. Additionally, we propose to set up a long-term monitoring program involving RMBL docents to continue this data collection.
