Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Climate change shifts natural selection and the adaptive potential of the perennial forb Bochera stricta in the Rocky Mountians (2019), Evolution. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Trait measurements
Visited experimental grids and rosettes 3-4 times per week throughout each growing season. Assessed germination, survival of seeds and rosettes, flowering phenology, reproduction of transplanted rosettes. Measured leaf morphology and herbivore damage once per growing season for rosettes in 2017 and 2018.
Quantities: 3-4 visits per week throughout growing season, measurements on all surviving individualsDuration: Throughout 2017 and 2018 growing seasonsConditions: Regular field monitoring conditions
Equipment: field measurement tools, data recording sheets

Typical Equipment

• MCMCglmm R package

Output Measurements

• genetic variance
• heritability
• Robertson-Price identities
