Method synopsis

Construction of Integral Projection Models using vital rate data to project population persistence under different climate scenarios and estimate stochastic population growth rates.

Procedure from a recent peer-reviewed implementation

Steps below were extracted from the most recent peer-reviewed implementation of this protocol in the corpus — Increasing aridity may threaten the maintenance of a plant defence polymorphism (2025), Ecology Letters. Implementations in other papers (listed below) may differ.

1. Estimate herbivore damage
Estimated herbivore damage to aboveground tissue to determine efficacy of herbivory manipulations. Modeled probability of receiving herbivore damage using generalized linear model with binomial distribution and logit link function, and modeled per cent leaf area removed using linear model among plants that received herbivory.
Quantities: Individual plant assessments of damage probability and percent leaf area removedDuration: Annual assessments during censusesConditions: Assessed during annual censuses

Typical Equipment

• Statistical software

Output Measurements
